Lopud’s Most Famous Beach
Lopud’s main attraction is the sandy Šunj Beach, famous for its shallow waters and family-friendly ambiance. For refreshment, there are two great beach bars/restaurants: Beach Bar Šunj and Cima Beach Bar. If you decide to walk to Šunj Beach rather than taking a buggy, you will pass by scenic ruins that add a sense of historical intrigue to the journey. However, bear in mind that it takes 30 minutes walking from the port to Šunj. On some parts, you will also have to go uphill!
Historical Sites & Attractions of Lopud
In case you decide to stay in the village near the pier, you can explore beautiful historic sites. You will easily find the Franciscan Monastery and the Church of St. Mary, both showcasing remarkable medieval architecture. The island is dotted with charming stone houses and quaint gardens, adding to its rustic appeal. You’ll also find many bars and restaurants in the village if you decide to stay there rather than heading to Šunj.
One of the must-see attractions is the contemporary art installation “Your Black Horizon“, which offers a unique cultural experience on Lopud.
Additionally, the gorgeous Đorđić-Mayneri Park offers a peaceful place to relax in the shade.
For the adventurous, a hike to the fortress Sutvrac at the island’s highest point provides stunning views! Please note that the hike can be physically challenging, especially during the heat.
